What do you enjoy the most about your STEM career?
I enjoy learning and helping others. Technology spans across every field and industry which allows me the opportunity to interact with a myriad of different people. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching at various institutions and universities as well as volunteering my time with numerous non-profits. Upon graduation, I’ll have the choice of going into academia or industry. The options that this career offers are limitless.
What is your chosen STEM field?
Why did you choose this field?
I chose this field because of my parents. I was blessed to grow up in a home with parents who were working in technology fields and or companies so I was always around it. I also had a natural curiosity and knack when it came to computers. Innovation, constant changes, and the perpetual learning is what keeps me passionate about this field.
What obstacles have you overcome in your career/college journey?
The PhD journey itself can sometimes feel very daunting. I overcome those times by keeping the faith. I pray a lot, journal, and consult with my support team if things become overwhelming. Work-life balance is very important!
