3. What obstacles have you overcome in your career/college journey?
This may sound cliché but it’s true, the biggest obstacle in life is yourself. It can become difficult balancing life and school, but if you truly want something bad enough you’ll work to get it.
4. What do you enjoy the most about your STEM career/field?
I have the ability to develop a tool that I see a need for and instantly impact hundreds to thousands of lives. That instant gratification shows that my hard work is not in vain and that I can make a difference in the lives of those around me.
1. What is your chosen STEM field?
I am a first year PhD student in the field of Human-Centered Computing at the University of Florida.
2. Why did you choose this field?
I chose to study HCC because I like how the field has a direct impact on communities. When I was a math major in undergrad, I never wanted to be selfish with my talents so I became a tutor at my university. While tutoring I noticed that students were beyond capable of understanding and completing the work, they were just never taught the basics properly so they struggle on certain concepts. Due to me seeing this need, it makes me want to correct it which has lead me to HCC.
